Georgia Sea Turtle Center! The Center is open to the general public and offers an interactive Exhibit Gallery and Rehabilitation Pavilion with a number of view-able sea turtle patients. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a hospital for ill and injured sea turtles. We are the only hospital of its kind in the state of Georgia. $7 for adults (13+ years). $6 for Seniors (65+ years). $5 for children (4-12 years). Second Sunday Benefit Concert. This popular family-friendly music event takes place at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. 1-7 p.m. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends–locals and visitors alike–who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. The Neptune Park Fun Zone is the place to putt, plunge and play on St. Simons Island. The whole family will enjoy an 18-hole miniature golf course. The Encounter Youth Choir from Alton, Illinois, will be visiting Southeast Georgia to close out their 45th season. The group will present the musical “At the Cross (Love Ran Red)” by Bradley Knight at three free performances. “Tour,” as it’s called by the group, will not only include performances but also service work, retreat and worship time, and local tourist activities. Encounter is made up of 85 high school students from six schools representing nearly 30 Alton area churches. It also has 16 adult Sponsors who do much of the behind the scenes work from fundraising, leading small group scripture study, running sound, driving students, and more. Total Solar Eclipse Viewing Party! The first total eclipse on American soil since 1991, first on the mainland since 1979, and first to sweep across the entire country since 1918 and you’re invited! The St. Simons Island Literary Guild Film Series presents Harry and the Snowman, USA, 2015, directed by Ron Davis. Dutch immigrant, Harry deLeyer, journeyed to the U.S. after World War II and developed a transformative relationship with a broken-down Amish plow horse he rescued off a slaughter truck bound for the glue factory.
