Georgia Sea Turtle Center! The Center is open to the general public and offers an interactive Exhibit Gallery and Rehabilitation Pavilion with a number of viewable sea turtle patients. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a hospital for ill and injured sea turtles. We are the only hospital of its kind in the state of Georgia. $7 for adults (13+ years). $6 for Seniors (65+ years). $5 for children (4-12 years). FREE for children 3 and under. $6 for Active Duty Military Personnel, College Students and Teachers (ID required). Prices include tax. Christmas Twilight Tours, 2017. Exclusive to the holiday season, enjoy a special evening trolley ride through the National Historic Landmark District highlighting the story of Christmas on Jekyll Island. The tour includes a special stop at Faith Chapel, showcasing the magnificent stained glass masterpiece, “Adoration of the Christ Child.” The evening concludes at Indian Mound Cottage with music and light refreshments. Second Sundays:
This popular family-friendly music event takes place at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends – locals and visitors alike – who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. December 1-31:
A signature experience on the Georgia Coast, oceanfront “ice” skating on Jekyll Island. Located oceanfront and situated just south of the Holiday Inn Resort, the outdoor synthetic rink is open November through January. Skate rentals, concessions, and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean are all available at the Jekyll Island Skating Village. Tickets may only be purchased on-site and day-of at the Skating Village. Keller Williams Concert, Rainbow Island, Sea Island! Widely known as a ‘one-man jam-band,’ Keller Williams’ music combines a unique mix of bluegrass, folk, alternative rock, reggae, jazz, and even a bit more. Christmas at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation. This magical experience will demonstrate how Christmas was celebrated on a Southern rice plantation during the 1850s. Take a candlelit stroll down the old carriage road and enjoy candlelit tours of an antebellum plantation house. This event is family friendly. Glynn Visual Arts is pleased to announce its seventh annual Mistletoe Market. This fine art and gift market has become a mainstay of the Golden Isles’ holiday festivities. This year, we expect over 60 accomplished artists and artisans offering a wide variety of high quality artwork including two-dimensional art, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, photography, woodworking, baskets, fabric and mixed media. This show is a unique combination of fine art, wonderful gifts, good food, entertainment, and family fun in a festive island holiday atmosphere. It is the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors alike to find that one-of-a-kind purchase or gift for the holiday season. Anderson Fine Art Gallery, 3309 Frederica Rd., St. Simons Island will be hosting the Oil Painters of America 2017 Eastern Regional Exhibition Of Representational Oils. This is a juried show open to all members of the OPA living in states east of the Mississippi River. The show will be juried by the OPA and the prospectus will go out to members in April. The Sea Island Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K are all run on Sea Island. Race entries are limited and early registration is suggested. Brunswick Christmas Parade! This annual community parade starts at 5:30 p.m. at Howard Coffin Park. Over 100 floats, vehicles, walking groups and marching band units make their way one mile down the length of Gloucester Street to Mary Ross Waterfront Park in the heart of the Old Town National Register Historic District. Santa Arrives on St. Simons Island! Every year, volunteers with the Glynn County Fire Department and the Saint Simons Island Civinettes have brought a wonderful Christmas Tradition to St. Simons Island. On Christmas Eve, Beginning around 5 p.m., you’ll begin to hear the sirens and the excitement starts to build as Santa makes an annual Christmas Eve tour on the antique red fire truck decorated with Christmas lights and accompanied by an impressive escort of fire engines, motorcycles, and other vehicles as well as plenty of elves. Adults and children line the streets or make their way to selected stops on the island with great anticipation to take their turns on his lap to whisper a last minute Christmas wish and to receive a stocking gift from volunteers with the Saint Simons Civinettes, the non-profit group who has been organizing Santa’s visit since the tradition began many decades ago. The night is special not only for the kids who can’t wait to see Santa, but for adults who are excited to pass on this tradition that they also experienced as a child and have their own memories of their families’ participation. The route primarily takes Santa along Demere Road, Mallery Street and Frederica Roads with stops at the following locations; 1. St. Simons Casino Theatre (approximately 5 p.m.) 2.
