Georgia Sea Turtle Center! The Center is open to the general public and offers an interactive Exhibit Gallery and Rehabilitation Pavilion with a number of view-able sea turtle patients. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a hospital for ill and injured sea turtles. We are the only hospital of its kind in the state of Georgia. $7 for adults (13+ years). $6 for Seniors (65+ years). $5 for children (4-12 years). FREE for children 3 and under. $6 for Active Duty Military Personnel, College Students and Teachers (ID required). Prices include tax. Visitors under 16 years old must be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. In accordance with State Health Department regulations, all swimsuits must be covered. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Mondays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. During the months of December, January, and February, we are closed on Mondays. Explore the beach from the edge of the dunes to the low tide. Learn about sea shells, critters living above and below the sand, pull a small seine net through the shallows and see who swims just below the surface! Step into the salt marsh, get to know the fiddler crabs, periwinkle snails, & native plants along with their incredible adaptations for survival. Second Sundays:
This popular family-friendly music event takes place at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. 1-7 p.m. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends–locals and visitors alike–who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. Raffle tickets are sold for door prizes contributed by area businesses. Kids can play in the inflatable bounce house and slides. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled community event!

May 1-31:
The Neptune Park Fun Zone is the place to putt, plunge and play on St. Simons Island. The whole family will enjoy an 18-hole miniature golf course. Open year round, the golf course offers fun for groups of any size ($7 per round, discounts available for large groups). Cool off this summer at the Neptune Park Fun Zone pool ($7/day, open during spring & summer seasons). There is something for everyone, including a wading pool and water gym for the kids, lap lanes, and zero-entry access. All areas are constantly monitored by American Red Cross-certified lifeguards. Since a day at the pool works up an appetite, enjoy refreshments from our on-site concession stand while lounging poolside under an umbrella. Kids will love our state-of-the-art playground with swings, slides and much more. There are benches alongside for parents to watch the fun. 13th Annual Turtle Crawl Triathlon and Nest Fest! The event takes place along Beachfront Park near the Jekyll Island Convention Center. After swimming, biking, and running along Jekyll Island’s scenic beaches, roadways, and paved bike paths, there will be crafts and educational activities, provided by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. The Turtle Crawl and Nest Fest is for turtle enthusiasts of all ages! Events culminate with the release of a rehabilitated sea turtle from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center! May 21:
1st Annual Golden Isles Prep Rally! This exciting and important outreach event facilitated by US Coast Guard Station Brunswick & Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 07-10-10, Glynn County Emergency Management/First Responders, UGA Marine Brunswick Extension, the City of Brunswick, Red Cross, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Georgia DNR, National Guard and many others will be free to the entire community. It will focus on disaster awareness and preparedness with the spotlight on hurricane and coastal flooding. Woodturners Weekend Workshop with master woodturner, Mark Sillay hosted by Glynn Visual Arts. Learn the basic concepts of woodturning, including lathe and tool safety, basic project design, tool selection, and techniques for cutting and shaping both end grain and side grain. Basic tools provided include: roughing gouge, spindle gouge, bowl gouge, skew, parting tool, and scraper. Explore how the tools cut wood and then use these techniques to create projects including a small bowl. More experienced turners may produce more complicated projects. If you have a mini-lathe or other tools, please bring them. If you have wood that you want to bring, please do, but turning blanks will be provided. Price includes all materials. Springtime By The Sea, Senior Adult Vacation Bible School will hold “The Word Made Fresh” at Epworth By The Sea Christian Conference and Retreat Center. Senior saints and sages are invited to revisit the old, old story in very new and fun ways through music and storytelling of one of the United Methodism’s most popular speakers, Ed Kilbourne. Kilbourne is nationally known for his gifts of combining music and teaching in worship and concert settings. He combines acoustic guitar and singing with a storytelling style often compared to that of Garrison Keillor, the radio humorist from ‘Lake Wobegon’. Ed began his performing career playing in folk groups while in high school and college. With over 9000 solo appearances over the last 50 years, he has performed in every region of the United States and has recorded 24 albums. epworthbythesea.org.

Hello Sunshine Festival! The inaugural Hello Summer Festival on Memorial Day weekend will be a daylong celebration of summer with arts, crafts, and food vendors at the St. Mary’s Waterfront Park. There will be a After Schools Out for Summer’s air guitar contest, the Georgia Radio Museum Birthday Party and more. Enjoy live entertainment throughout the day.
