Georgia Sea Turtle Center! The Center is open to the general public and offers an interactive Exhibit Gallery and Rehabilitation Pavilion with a number of view-able sea turtle patients. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a hospital for ill and injured sea turtles. We are the only hospital of its kind in the state of Georgia. $7 for adults (13+ years). $6 for Seniors (65+ years). $5 for children (4-12 years). FREE for children 3 and under. $6 for Active Duty Military Personnel, College Students and Teachers (ID required). Prices include tax. Visitors under 16 years old must be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. In accordance with State Health Department regulations, all swimsuits must be covered. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Mondays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. During the months of December, January, and February, we are closed on Mondays. Second Sundays:
This popular family-friendly music event takes place at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. 1-7 p.m. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends–locals and visitors alike–who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. Raffle tickets are sold for door prizes contributed by area businesses. Kids can play in the inflatable bounce house and slides. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled community event!

May 1-31:
The Neptune Park Fun Zone is the place to putt, plunge and play on St. Simons Island. The whole family will enjoy an 18-hole miniature golf course. Open year round, the golf course offers fun for groups of any size ($7 per round, discounts available for large groups). Cool off this summer at the Neptune Park Fun Zone pool ($7/day, open during spring & summer seasons). There is something for everyone, including a wading pool and water gym for the kids, lap lanes, and zero-entry access. All areas are constantly monitored by American Red Cross-certified lifeguards. Since a day at the pool works up an appetite, enjoy refreshments from our on-site concession stand while lounging poolside under an umbrella. Kids will love our state-of-the-art playground with swings, slides and much more. There are benches alongside for parents to watch the fun. Golden Isles Arts & Humanities Presents Taylor 2! Established in 1993, this six-member company brings Paul Taylor’s dances with all the artistry of the world renowned choreographer representing the wide range of athleticism, humor and emotion found in his work. Join the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Georgia for their 30th Annual Golf Tournament from 10 a.m.-9 p.m at Jekyll Island Golf Club, 322 Captain Wylly Rd. The day begins with breakfast, Bloody Marys and mimosas at Gnat’s Landing at 10 a.m., with a bus departing for Jekyll Island at 11 a.m. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. at the Jekyll Island Golf Club and the shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m. Spouses and family are welcome to join the golfers at Gnat’s Landing at 5 p.m. for the After Party. Registration is $100 per person/$400 per team and includes tournament fees, shared cart fee, breakfast, lunch, range balls, after-party at Gnat’s Landing. 15th Annual Turtle Crawl Triathlon and Nest Fest! The event takes place along Beachfront Park near the Jekyll Island Convention Center. After swimming, biking, and running along Jekyll Island’s scenic beaches, roadways, and paved bike paths, there will be crafts and educational activities, provided by the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. The Turtle Crawl and Nest Fest is for turtle enthusiasts of all ages! Events culminate with the release of a rehabilitated sea turtle from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center! 80th Annual Blessing of the Fleet! The Annual Brunswick Blessing of the Fleet will take place at Mary Ross Park on Friday, May 11 from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., with the actual blessing being held on Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. This two-day celebration is one of the best that Coastal Georgia has to offer with fresh seafood, local culture, boating, water sports, the shrimping industry, arts, crafts and variety of leisure activities. Southern Grown Concert, featuring Yonder Mountain String Band takes place at 7 p.m. on Rainbow Island, 10 Sea Island Rd. St. Simons Island. The Literary Guild of St. Simons Island “Coffee with the Author” series presents Charles Martin. Always a crowd pleaser, Charles has written over 12 top selling novels including The Mountain Between Us, which was turned into a major Hollywood film in 2017 starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba. He visits the Guild to talk about his latest book, Send Down the Rain, the story of a 62 year old Vietnam vet who’s been keeping a secret for 45 years but something beyond his control brings him out of hiding and forces him to wrestle with whether or not to tell the secret. Problem is, if he tells it, somebody dies. If he doesn’t tell it, somebody dies.G. J. The Literary Guild of St. Simons Island “Coffee with the Author” series presents Christopher Swann. Christopher Swann and Shadow of the Lions. A graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, Christopher earned a B.A. in English from Washington and Lee University, a M.A. in English and creative writing from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. in creative writing from Georgia State University. He has won awards and recognition from GSU, Washington and Lee University, and the Heekin Group Foundation’s Tara Fellowship for Short Fiction. He lives with his wife and two sons in Atlanta, where he is the English department chair at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. Shadow of the Lions is his debut novel. Too many books?
